January 22, 2025
Dear Readers, Followers, and Members of the NICU Parent Network,
I am honored and excited to accept the position of President of the NICU Parent Network Board of Directors- effective January 1, 2025. This organization holds a special place in my heart. My journey as a NICU parent leader has been deeply intertwined with my own family’s story. Twelve years ago, I delivered my daughter at just 23 weeks gestation. Our journey together has shaped my commitment to supporting NICU families and advancing the mission of this incredible organization.
The NICU Parent Network has long been a vital resource for connecting and empowering NICU parent leaders and organizations. Our wish for a world where every NICU family is an essential and integral member of their baby’s care team resonates deeply with me. As we move forward, I am dedicated to working collaboratively to achieve the goals outlined in our strategic plan. Whether it involves strengthening member engagement, amplifying the voices of NICU families, or expanding the resources and support we provide, I am eager to contribute to our shared vision.
One of my top priorities in the coming months is to connect with each of you and your organizations. Understanding your unique perspectives, needs, and contributions is critical to ensuring that our collective efforts remain aligned and impactful. I look forward to fostering meaningful relationships and continuing the spirit of collaboration that defines the NICU Parent Network.
I would also like to congratulate Tieast Leverett for her new appointment as Vice President of NPN. She brings much love and many unique skills to our leadership, and I am looking forward to our continued work together in the upcoming years. And I want to extend a special “thank you” to both past-presidents Gigi Khonyongwa-Fernandez and Kristy Love, for their many years of service to our organization.
Thank you for your dedication to this important work and for welcoming me into this role. Together, I am confident that we can achieve great things for NICU families and communities. Happy New Year.
Warm regards,
Jennifer Degl
President, NICU Parent Network
